You Are Never Too Young for a Library Card

Visit the Children’s Department and see what resources are available for you and your child!

Get Your First Library Card Today

All children are encouraged to have a library card in their name from birth. All you have to do is bring your child and your valid Port Jefferson Free Library card. We will take your child’s picture and issue them their first library card.

New Baby Kits

Upon receiving their own library card, any child up to 1 year old may then collect a welcome bag filled with fun library materials. Please see a Children’s Librarian to obtain your child’s bag, courtesy of the Friends of the Port Jefferson Library.
