Get a Library Card

Membership to the Port Jefferson Free Library is free to residents of the Port Jefferson Union Free School District. Miller Place and Mount Sinai School District residents have the option to elect membership in either the Port Jefferson Free Library OR Comsewogue Library each year.

*Active membership may not be established in both libraries*

The Library is open for you to get your library card in person.

To apply, you must present any TWO of the following items which list both your  name and address within the Library’s service district.

Items must be current:

  • NYS Driver License or Non-Driver ID
  • NYS Auto Registration or Insurance Card
  • Federal, State, County and/or Town Government Issued ID
  • Property Tax Receipts
  • Business Statements (Utility, Bank or Credit Card dated within 60 days)

All children are encouraged to have a Library card in their name. Both child and parent must be present when applying. Each patron must present his/her own Library card in order to use Library services. Please notify the Library immediately of any change of information or if the card has been lost or stolen.

Lost or damaged cards will be replaced at a cost of $1.00.


Digital Library Card
